Our History

On September 1, 2024, the vibrant town of Gueydan, Louisiana, proudly welcomed its first-ever professional basketball franchise: the Gueydan Flying Ducks. As Vermilion Parish’s inaugural pro team, the Flying Ducks captured hearts from day one—transforming a local gym into a raucous homecourt and setting a new standard for community support.

• Historic Expansion: Awarded an NBL–US expansion slot on 9/1/2024, the Flying Ducks immediately became one of the league’s most talked-about additions.

• Record-Breaking Attendance: Shattering the NBL–US single-season attendance record and showcasing the town’s deep-rooted passion.

• Undefeated Champions: In a fairy-tale inaugural campaign, Gueydan claimed the 2024–2025 NBL–US Championship.

Individual Honors

• Xavier Howard, League MVP: Led the NBL–US in scoring (18.7 PPG) and steals (2.3 SPG), anchoring the Ducks’ unstoppable offensive machine.

• Kevin Lewis Jr., Finals MVP: Delivered a breathtaking 29-point performance the Finals, clinching the title.

• Kevin Williams, Coach of the Year: Orchestrated the team’s first unbeaten season and masterfully integrated a roster of rookies and veterans into a championship-caliber unit.
